Crafting connections between entrepreneurs with hand made name buttons
Scadding Court Community Centre hosts regular networking events for its Women Entrepreneur Hub and Newcomer Entrepreneur Hub alumni. I was delighted to facilitate a creative activity table for their holiday event, where participants used a button-maker to design and craft custom 2-inch name buttons.
The invitation was simple: write your name, and one word that describes you best.
With a selection of holiday-themed templates to choose from, attendees personalized their designs with colour and flair. This simple yet thoughtful prompt encouraged reflection and collaboration, as some participants brainstormed ideas together, leading to delightful and often surprising results. The creative process varied widely—some opted for a minimalist approach, while others poured elaborate care into their coloring, making each button a unique expression of its creator.
Once completed, the buttons became instant conversation starters, fostering meaningful connections and adding a vibrant, personal touch to the event. This activity not only sparked creativity but made it easier for the entrepreneurs to get to know each other, leaving a lasting positive impact on the networking experience.
Thanks to MaryCarla Quintazzi Studio for taking some photos as I forgot to take my own!
